Which technology really matters in Berlin.
If you're looking for laser hair removal in Berlin, you'll be offered four technologies that work very differently. IPL isn't a laser, but a flashlamp with a broad light spectrum, and is mostly used in beauty salons. Diode lasers with 808 nm are cheap to buy and widely used. Alexandrit (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) are the two wavelengths that have been tested the longest in studies and medical practice: Alexandrit for light to medium skin with dark hair, Nd:YAG for dark and tanned skin. In Berlin, we rely on Lutronic Clarity II (Alexandrit 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm) and DEKA Again Pro, class IIb medical devices with external Cryo cooling.
| Criterion | Alexandrit + Nd:YAG (Laserazor) | Diode laser | IPL / flashlamp |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wavelength | 755 nm and 1064 nm, depending on skin type | mostly 808 nm | broad spectrum, 500 to 1200 nm |
| Skin types | all six Fitzpatrick types, including dark and tanned skin | light to medium, dark skin limited | only light skin with dark hair |
| Classification | Class IIb medical device | Medical device or cosmetic device, depending on the model | usually a cosmetic device |
| Fine and light hair | Alexandrit with short pulses captures fine residual hair | limited | barely |
| Cooling | Cryo cooling before every pulse | Contact cooling in the handpiece | Gel or contact |
| Practitioner | Proven expertise according to NiSV | NiSV required, not always met | NiSV required, not always met |
| Sessions until results | usually 6 to 10 | usually 8 to 12 | often 10 or more, top-ups more frequent |

Back, chest, beard line: made for men.
Around a third of our clients in Berlin are men. The most common zones are the back, shoulders, chest and stomach, plus the neck and beard line for a clean finish without razor burn or ingrown hairs. Men's hair is thicker and denser, so we use higher energies and the Nd:YAG laser here, even on tanned skin. The process is the same as for women: skin type check, test pulses, then the complete zone.
Men also start with the 0 € trial session for a complete zone. Find out more about zones, sessions and the process in our guide Laser hair removal for men in Berlin and on the Hair removal for men page.
| Zone (men) | Single session | Package of 10, per session |
|---|---|---|
| Full Back | 259 € | 142 € |
| Full chest | 129 € | 71 € |
| Full abdomen | 129 € | 71 € |
| Shoulders | 109 € | 60 € |
| Nape | 49 € | 27 € |
| Beard line and neck | 49 € | 27 € |
| Full intimate area (men) | 139 € | 76 € |

Who is allowed to laser in Berlin, and what NiSV means.
When a dermatologist is the right choice
In Berlin, many dermatology clinics and laser centres offer hair removal, mostly with diode lasers, sometimes also with Alexandrit and Nd:YAG, billed according to the medical fee schedule starting at around 90 € per session. This is the right place to go if you have a skin condition, take light-sensitising medication or want medical advice.
- for skin conditions in the treatment area, such as active acne, eczema or psoriasis
- if taking medication that increases light sensitivity
- for hormonal hair growth, if the underlying cause needs to be investigated first
What a NiSV studio like Laserazor can do
Since 2021, laser hair removal can only be performed by professionals who have certified expertise under the NiSV radiation protection regulation. This applies to every single one of our specialists, and we use Class IIb medical devices – the exact same standard you'd find in a doctor's clinic.
- Skin type check and test pulses before your first treatment
- Alexandrit and Nd:YAG instead of just a single wavelength
- fixed prices per zone instead of medical fee schedules
- 0 € trial session for a full zone, no strings attached

What to expect at your appointment.
The laser only targets hair in its active growth phase, which is about 20 to 30 percent of your hair at any given time, depending on the zone. That's why you'll need multiple sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart: closer to four weeks for the face, and around eight for legs and backs. Most zones show a significant, permanent1 reduction after six to ten sessions. Any fine remaining hairs can easily be sorted out later with individual top-up sessions.
- Before your appointment: Shave the zone 12 to 24 hours beforehand. Don't wax or epilate, and avoid intense sun or sunbeds for four weeks.
- At the studio: Skin type check, test pulses, and then the full zone. Underarms take 10 minutes, full legs take 45.
- Afterwards: A little redness for a few hours is completely normal. Skip the gym and sauna for the rest of the day, and apply SPF 50 to the treated zones.
- In summer: Laser hair removal in Berlin is absolutely fine during the summer, and thanks to the Nd:YAG laser, it even works on tanned skin. The only rule is that your skin shouldn't be freshly tanned.
Laser hair removal in Berlin: easy to reach.
Berlin is big, and your choice of studio often determines whether you see it through or give up. Both of our studios are in Charlottenburg: Pestalozzistraße is three minutes from S-Bahnhof Savignyplatz, and Danckelmannstraße is five minutes from the U7 at Richard-Wagner-Platz. That means you can get here from Mitte, Schöneberg, Kreuzberg and Spandau in under 20 minutes, and from Neukölln or Prenzlauer Berg in about 25. Purchased sessions are valid at both studios, so you can switch depending on your appointment.
