Alexandrit vs. Nd:YAG — which laser for what?

Alexandrit (755 nm) is ideal for light skin types I–III, Nd:YAG (1064 nm) for dark skin types IV–VI and tanned skin.

The short answer.

Alexandrit (755 nm) is the "standard laser" for light to medium skin types (I–III) and most zones. Nd:YAG (1064 nm) penetrates deeper, is gentler on the skin and is used for dark skin types (IV–VI), tanned skin and thick hair. Laserazor uses both wavelengths combined.

Why a combination of both?

No single wavelength is perfect for everyone and every area. That's why at Laserazor, we combine both lasers in one device (Lutronic Clarity II, DEKA Again Pro). In one session, we can switch between 755 nm and 1064 nm — depending on the area, depending on your skin type.

How do we decide which laser to use?

We start with a skin analysis: Fitzpatrick type, current pigmentation, hair colour, zone. Based on this, our NiSV expert selects the right wavelength and energy. Nothing is standardised — every treatment is tailored to you.

What about IPL?

IPL is not a laser, but pulsed light with a broad wavelength spectrum. It's less precise, delivers less energy per wavelength and works significantly worse in practice — especially on dark skin. We don't use IPL.
