Pain & sensation

Is laser hair removal painful?

Thanks to Cryo cooling at −30 °C, the treatment is virtually painless. Most people describe it as a warm tingling or a slight plucking sensation.

The short answer.

No — the treatment is generally very tolerable. Most clients describe the treatment as a slight warm tingling or a quick pinch. Thanks to our laser's contact and air cooling at −30 °C, the skin is cooled down in a flash during the shot.

What it really feels like.

Each laser pulse lasts approx. 10 milliseconds. During this time, the hair root heats up to over 70 °C — but the surrounding skin stays pleasantly cold thanks to the integrated cooling system. The sensation is comparable to:

  • Underarms, legs, arms: a slight warm pinch — barely noticeable.
  • Bikini & intimate: a more intense tingling, but very manageable with good cooling.
  • Upper lip, chin: short pricks, as the skin is thin. Duration per zone: only 2–4 minutes.

Why isn't it as bad as waxing?

With waxing, the wax sticks to your skin and is ripped off — tearing at the skin itself. The laser works only on the melanin in the hair root, not the skin's surface. That's why: Waxing = sharp pain. Laser = warm plucking.

For sensitive zones.

We adapt the laser energy individually to your pain tolerance. If an area is particularly sensitive, we can:

  • extend the pulse duration (less peak heat)
  • increase the cooling
  • dose the energy more finely over several light passes

For very sensitive people, we additionally recommend a numbing cream 30–45 min. before the treatment (e.g. EMLA cream from the pharmacy).

Possible reactions: As with any laser treatment, temporary redness or swelling can occur; we'll clear up any possible contraindications beforehand.

Can you test it first?

Yes. In the free trial session, you can have the entire zone treated — with no strings attached. That way, after 10–30 minutes, you know exactly how it feels.
