Laser hair removal in Berlin: what to expect

You can get permanent¹ laser hair removal in Berlin at Laserazor in two studios in Charlottenburg, with Alexandrit 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm in the same device, NiSV-certified specialists, fixed prices per complete zone and a 0 € trial session before every package.

Berlin has the most crowded market for laser hair removal in Germany. You'll find beauty salons with diode lasers, chains using IPL, dermatology clinics charging standard medical fees, and a handful of studios using medical-grade Alexandrit and Nd:YAG lasers. This guide explains how the process works, what it costs in Berlin, what to expect during your treatment with us, and how to spot a good studio. You'll find the main page with addresses, opening times, and all treatment zones at Laser hair removal Berlin.

In Berlin, we offer treatments at two studios: Berlin Pestalozzistraße 13 and Danckelmannstraße 24. Both are located in Charlottenburg: Laserazor Berlin Pestalozzistraße near Savignyplatz and Laserazor Berlin Danckelmannstraße near Schloss Charlottenburg. Any sessions you buy are valid at both locations, as well as all other Laserazor studios.

How permanent laser hair removal works

Laser hair removal relies on selective photothermolysis: a pulse of light at a specific wavelength is absorbed by the hair pigment, turns into heat, and damages the hair root to stop the hair from growing back.

Anderson and Parrish 1983 described this principle. Three parameters are crucial: wavelength, pulse duration, and energy. The wavelength determines how strongly the hair pigment absorbs the light and how deep it penetrates. Alexandrit at 755 nm is most efficient for light to medium skin, while Nd:YAG at 1064 nm is safest for dark and tanned skin. Both Berlin studios offer both wavelengths in the same device, the Lutronic Clarity II, alongside the DEKA Again Pro. All devices are Class IIb medical products, the same class used in dermatology clinics. Our guide on Alexandrit lasers explains the technology in detail.

The laser only targets hairs in the growth phase, because that's the only time the pigment and root are connected. Since only 20 to 30 percent of the hairs in each zone are growing at the same time, every zone needs multiple sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart.

Because the laser only targets hair in the growth phase and only 20 to 30 percent of hair per zone grows at the same time, each zone needs eight to twelve sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart. After the full course, the zone is permanently¹ hair-free. The Cochrane review by Haedersdal and Gøtzsche 2006 shows around a 50 percent hair reduction for Alexandrit and diode lasers six months after treatment in the evaluated studies, usually after just a few sessions.

For all skin types, even in summer

I verbrennt immer Alexandrit II verbrennt leicht Alexandrit III bräunt langsam Alexandrit IV bräunt leicht Alexandrit oder Nd:YAG V bräunt stark Nd:YAG VI sehr dunkel Nd:YAG
Fitzpatrick skin types (1988) and the wavelength we use to treat them. This matching is a rule of thumb; the skin type check and test pulses before the first session are what really count.

Berlin is diverse, and our clients' skin types range from I to VI according to Fitzpatrick 1988. We treat light to medium skin with Alexandrit, and dark, olive, and tanned skin with Nd:YAG. This also means: if you're coming straight from Wannsee in the summer, you won't be sent home – you'll be treated with Nd:YAG. Only a fresh weekend tan needs a week or two to fade. Our guide on Alexandrit or Nd:YAG explains which wavelength is right for you.

There are limits when it comes to hair colour. Grey, white, and light blonde hair lack pigment and won't respond to any laser. Red hair responds partially. During your trial session, you'll see for yourself how your hair reacts after two to three weeks.

Prices in Berlin

Prices at Laserazor Berlin apply per complete zone and are the same across all studios: single sessions with no strings attached, or packages of 3, 5, or 10 sessions that drop the price per session by 20 to 45 percent and are valid for 24 months.

For comparison: dermatology clinics in Berlin charge according to the medical fee schedule, which comes to around 90 to 150 € per session for underarms, usually without a package discount. Beauty salons using IPL advertise "from 19 €", often for half an underarm or an area of just a few square centimetres. With us, underarms cost 79 € for a single session and 48 € per session in a package of 10, for the full zone. You can find all zones and hidden costs in our guide Laser hair removal Berlin: Prices 2026. If you prefer to pay monthly, choose the VIP flat rate from 109 € a month.

Here's how your first treatment at Laserazor works. The trial session covers all the steps for one full area.
  1. Book online. You choose your studio, area and appointment at booking.laserazor.de. Evening and Saturday appointments are also available.
  2. Preparation. No waxing, epilating or plucking four weeks beforehand, no sun or fake tan on the area two weeks beforehand, and shave 12 to 24 hours before. On the day of your treatment, don't use any creams, deodorant or perfume on the area.
  3. Skin type check and test pulses. Our specialist will determine your skin type, ask about medication, sun exposure and skin conditions, and apply a few test pulses. This sets the wavelength and energy for the area.
  4. Treatment. Wearing laser safety goggles, we go over the entire area pulse by pulse, with Cryo cooling right before each one. Underarms take ten minutes, full intimate area 15, and full legs 45 minutes.
  5. Afterwards. Mild redness for a few hours is normal. No sports, sauna or sun on the day of your treatment, and use SPF 50 afterwards. The hair will fall out after two to three weeks.
  6. Course. Your next appointment is every six to eight weeks, at whichever studio is closer to you at the time.

The treatment feels like a quick, warm pinch with each pulse – barely noticeable on the legs and underarms, but more distinct in the intimate area. The cooling before each pulse takes away most of the heat. Nobody needs numbing cream. Read more in our guide Low-pain laser hair removal.

Directions from Berlin's districts

Both studios are located in Charlottenburg and can be reached from almost any borough in under 30 minutes. Because a course means eight to twelve appointments over a year, it's worth checking the journey before you book.

Berlin is big, and your choice of studio often determines whether you see it through or give up. Both of our studios are in Charlottenburg: Pestalozzistraße is three minutes from S-Bahnhof Savignyplatz, and Danckelmannstraße is five minutes from the U7 at Richard-Wagner-Platz. That means you can get here from Mitte, Schöneberg, Kreuzberg and Spandau in under 20 minutes, and from Neukölln or Prenzlauer Berg in about 25. Purchased sessions are valid at both studios, so you can switch depending on your appointment.

The Berlin summer is the most common reason for rescheduled appointments. With Nd:YAG, we also treat tanned skin; only sunburn and very fresh tans need a one to two-week break. If you start your course in autumn, you'll have most of your sessions behind you by your first swim at Müggelsee.

Men in Berlin

Around a third of our clients in Berlin are men. The most popular zones are back and shoulders, chest and stomach, back of the neck and beard line, plus full intimate. Men's hair is thicker and denser, which is an advantage for the laser because the pigment absorbs the energy well. A full back costs 269 € as a single session and 152 € per session in a package of 10. We laser the beard line precisely, leaving the beard itself intact if you want. If you just want to thin the hair out, let us know during the skin type check, and we'll leave longer gaps between sessions. You can find all zones, prices and answers to typical questions in our guide Laser hair removal for men in Berlin.

What Berliners ask during the skin type check

“I've already had IPL, is laser still worth it?”

Yes. After a course of IPL, the thinner hairs are often gone and the thicker ones remain. These are exactly the ones the Alexandrit laser targets well. We do some test pulses and see how much still reacts after the first session.

“I'm on the pill or have PCOS.”

Neither is an obstacle. With hormonally driven hair growth, individual hairs might return after the course, meaning a top-up is needed. If you experience sudden, heavy hair growth, we recommend getting it checked by a doctor first. Find out more in our guide Hirsutism and hypertrichosis.

"I have tattoos on my legs."

We avoid tattoos because the pigment in the tattoo absorbs the laser light. A border of about one centimetre is left untreated. Details in our guide Laser on tattoos.

"Can I do multiple areas in one appointment?"

Yes, and combo packages are cheaper than the sum of the individual zones. Underarms + full intimate + full legs cost 239 € per session in a package of 10 and take around 60 minutes.

The most popular areas in Berlin

For women, it's underarms, bikini line and full intimate, legs and upper lip; for men, it's back, chest, back of the neck and beard line. Around a third of our clients in Berlin are men, read more in our guide Laser hair removal for men in Berlin. Combo packages like underarms + full intimate (119 € per session in a package of 10) are cheaper than the sum of the individual zones. You can find an overview of all 31 zones under Treatments, and specific details about the intimate area in our guide Laser hair removal for the intimate area.

How to spot a good laser studio in Berlin

A good laser studio uses a medical laser with a defined wavelength, employs specialists with NiSV certification, cools the skin before every pulse, states fixed prices per full area and offers a trial treatment for the full area.

  • Wavelength instead of "laser": Alexandrit 755 nm, Nd:YAG 1064 nm, diode 808 nm. If they can't give you a number, they're usually working with IPL, a flashlamp.
  • Two wavelengths: This is the only way to treat all skin types and tanned skin without a break.
  • Class IIb medical device: the same device class used in medical practices. Cosmetic devices without this classification are limited in their energy output.
  • NiSV certification for every specialist: The regulation (NiSV) has required this since the end of 2020 for anyone using lasers for hair removal. Ask for the certificate of the person treating you.
  • Skin type check and test pulses: before the first session, not after a complaint.
  • Fixed prices per full area: with package prices and details on how long packages are valid.
  • Written reviews: Over 1.600 Google reviews with 5,0 stars for our two Berlin studios, available to read on Google.

You'll find the detailed ten-point checklist in our guide Best laser hair removal in Berlin, and a comparison between medical clinics and studios in the guide Dermatologist or studio.

Safety and side effects

With the right energy and cooling, side effects are mild: redness and slight swelling around the follicles for a few hours. Temporary pigment changes are rare, mostly occurring on tanned skin. The Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) states that the main causes of serious damage are excessive energy on dark skin and a lack of cooling. We avoid moles, tattoos, and fresh scars. If you have active skin conditions, are taking light-sensitising medication, are pregnant, or experience sudden heavy hair growth, we'll ask you to see a doctor before your treatment.

Clinics bill according to the medical fee schedule, usually 90 to 150 € per session for underarms.

Packages of 3, 5 or 10 sessions are valid for 24 months across all Laserazor studios: both Berlin studios, München Haidhausen and Westend, Augsburg, and from October 2026, Hamburg.
