Intimate laser hair removal in Düsseldorf: the essentials
Laser hair removal for the intimate area means treating hair in the bikini line and pubic region with laser pulses so the roots stop producing new hair; after 8 to 12 sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart, the zone is permanently¹ smooth.
For both women and men, the intimate area is where shaving and waxing are the most annoying: razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and itchy stubble after just two days. The laser targets the root instead of the surface. Laserazor is opening a studio in January 2027 at Elisabethstraße 30 in Düsseldorf-Unterbilk, featuring Alexandrit 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm with cooling right before every pulse. Until then, you can sign up and test a zone in the 0 € trial session for the opening.
This guide explains which zone you need, how much it costs, what happens during a session, and what to keep in mind regarding discretion, hygiene, your cycle, and preparation. General safety questions are answered in the guide Laser hair removal for the intimate area: safe and effective, and all the details about the zone are on the Laser hair removal for the intimate area page.
Bikini line or full intimate: which zone you need
The most important decision before your first appointment is the zone. The bikini line only covers the edges, full intimate covers the entire pubic area, and the buttocks crease is a separate zone.
The bikini line includes the hair that peeks out from the sides and top of your knickers, bikini, or swimming trunks – meaning the groin and the edges of the pubic mound.
Full intimate covers the entire pubic area: for women, the bikini line, pubic mound, and outer labia; for men, the pubic mound, groin, penile shaft, and testicles.
| Zone | What's included | Duration | Right for you if you... |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bikini Area | Groin and edges, so everything visible outside your knickers, bikini, or swimming trunks | 10 min | only want the edges permanently¹ tidy |
| Full intimate area (women) | Bikini line, pubic mound, and outer labia | 15 min | want to be completely smooth or leave a shape |
| Full intimate area (men) | Pubic mound, groin, penile shaft, and testicles | 15 min | want to treat the whole area |
| Gluteal Crease | area between the buttocks, separate zone | 10 min | want to be smooth at the back too |
| Underarms + full intimate area | both zones in one appointment | 15 min | are planning both zones anyway |
With the full intimate area, you decide if you want everything gone or if you'd prefer to leave a strip or shape. The specialist will simply bypass this area during each session, and since the laser only works where it's applied, your chosen shape stays intact. Mucous membranes aren't lasered, and we also avoid tattoos and moles in the area. If you're unsure, start with the bikini line and decide after your first session if you want to upgrade to the full intimate area. Find out more about the smaller zone on the laser bikini line page.
For women and men: what's different
The process is the same for everyone, but the zones and skin differ. The full intimate area costs the same for women and men: 149 € for a single session and 86 € per session in a 10-session package.
Women
The skin on the pubic mound and labia is thinner than on the legs and often slightly darker pigmented than the rest of the body. That's why the skin type check is especially important in the intimate area: for darker skin, the specialist is more likely to choose Nd:YAG, and for lighter skin, Alexandrit. The full intimate area pairs well with the perianal area or underarms, so everything is sorted in one appointment.
Men
Men usually have thicker and darker hair in the intimate area. This is an advantage for the laser because the pigment absorbs the energy well. The skin on the testicles is thin and wrinkled and requires special care, which is why the specialist works more slowly there. Physical reactions during the treatment are normal and not an issue for the specialist. The perianal area, stomach line, and stomach are great additions. All zones for men can be found on the hair removal for men page and in the guide Laser hair removal for men in Düsseldorf.

A complete series for the full intimate area with ten sessions in a 10-session package costs 860 €. Because this is over 300 €, you can pay the amount in 12 instalments at 0 %. The bikini line costs 590 € as a series, and the perianal area is 590 €. If you're planning to do your underarms anyway, the underarms + full intimate combo is cheaper: 119 € per session in a 10-session package instead of 134 € if you book both zones separately. If you're planning multiple zones, you can also choose the VIP flat rate from 109 € a month.
For comparison: dermatology clinics charge according to the medical fee schedule, usually around 90 to 150 € per session just for underarms, often without a package discount. All zones and calculation examples can be found in the guide Laser hair removal Düsseldorf: Prices.
How an intimate session works
A session for the full intimate area takes about 15 minutes, the bikini line about 10 minutes. At Laserazor, your first session is the 0 € trial session, which includes all the steps.
- Consultation and skin type check. The specialist will ask about medications, skin conditions, sun exposure, and a possible pregnancy, determine your skin type according to Fitzpatrick, and discuss with you which areas will be treated and whether you want to leave a specific shape.
- Getting ready in the room. You only take off what's necessary for the treatment area and cover up the rest. You'll wear protective goggles, and so will the specialist.
- Test pulses. A few pulses on a small area show how your skin and hair react. This determines the wavelength and energy.
- Treatment. Pulse by pulse across the area, with cooling right before each pulse, which according to Ibrahimi and colleagues 2011 is essential for any safe laser hair removal. The specialist will let you know when they move to a new spot.
- Afterwards. Slight redness and minor swelling around the hair follicles are normal for a few hours; the Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz lists redness as a possible skin reaction. No sports, sauna, or sun on the day of your treatment. After two to three weeks, the treated hair will fall out.
Discretion: keeping things relaxed
For the specialist, the intimate area is just another zone, but for you, it might not be. That's completely normal, and a good studio will make you feel at ease.
- Private room. Treatments take place behind closed doors, just you and the specialist.
- Certified specialist. Under the NiSV, only those with proven expertise are allowed to perform laser treatments. Feel free to ask to see their certification.
- Only what's necessary. You only take off what's needed for the treatment area and can keep the rest covered.
- You set the pace. You can ask for a break or ask questions at any time.
- Specialist preference. If it's important to you whether you're treated by a woman or a man, just mention it when booking your appointment.
- No small talk required. Some people like to chat during their session, others prefer to stare at the ceiling. Both are absolutely fine.
At Laserazor, you can have your first session as a 0 € trial session and then take your time deciding if you want to continue. This way, you get to know the process, the room, and the specialist before buying a package.
Pain and cooling in the intimate area
Pain sensitivity during laser treatment depends on hair density, hair thickness and skin thickness; it's more noticeable in the intimate area than on the legs or underarms because the hair there is dense and coarse, and the skin is thin.

Each pulse feels like a short, warm pinch. The cooling right before each pulse takes away a lot of the heat. Because fewer and finer hairs grow back with each session, the sessions usually get more comfortable every time. Shortly before and during your period, many find their skin to be more sensitive, which is another reason why it's worth scheduling your appointment outside of these days. Find out more in our guide Low-pain laser hair removal.
It's important to tell your specialist if it gets too warm. They can adjust the cooling or take a short break. Coming freshly shaved makes things easier: long hairs above the skin also absorb energy and make the pulse more uncomfortable.
Hygiene: how to recognise clean work

In the intimate area, hygiene counts double. You can check these points at any studio, including during your trial session with us.
- The treatment bed gets a fresh cover for every appointment.
- The handpiece and contact surfaces are cleaned and disinfected after every appointment.
- The specialist will ask about inflammation, herpes or open sores in the area. If you have acute herpes or an inflammation, the appointment will be postponed.
- You arrive freshly showered and without cream or deodorant on the area.
Your skin will be sensitive for a few hours after the session. Wear loose cotton underwear and avoid the swimming pool, sauna and hot baths on the day of your treatment.
Preparation: shave, don't wax
The most important rule is: shaving yes, waxing no. The laser needs the hair root; the hair above the skin just gets in the way. If you wax, epilate or pluck, you remove exactly what the laser is supposed to target. The full rules can be found on the Preparation and aftercare page.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| four weeks before | no waxing, no sugaring, no epilating, no plucking |
| two weeks before | no sun or sunbeds on the area, no fake tan |
| 12 to 24 hours before | shave the area thoroughly, including hard-to-reach spots |
| on the day of the session | shower, no cream, no deodorant and no perfume on the area, comfortable underwear |
| after the session, on the same day | no sport, no sauna, no sun |
| two weeks afterwards | SPF 50 as soon as the area is exposed to the sun |
| after two to three weeks | the hair falls out, shaving is allowed, waxing isn't |
| after six to eight weeks | the next session |
Shave with a fresh blade in the direction of hair growth to reduce skin irritation. For a full intimate area, a mirror is handy for those hard-to-see spots. If you can't quite reach somewhere, just let us know at your appointment.
Periods, the pill and pregnancy
When it comes to your cycle and hormones, there are three things you should know before starting:
- Periods. Many people find their skin is more sensitive just before and during their period. That's why it's best to schedule appointments for the full intimate area outside of these days. With a six to eight-week gap, it's easy to time every appointment perfectly.
- The pill. Taking the pill isn't an issue. However, hormonal changes, like after coming off it or during the menopause, can trigger new hair growth. If that happens, a top-up session is usually all you need.
- Pregnancy. We don't do laser treatments during pregnancy. Hormones change your skin and hair growth during this time, so it's best to wait. After giving birth and while breastfeeding, we'll have a chat before you restart. Any package you've already started is valid for 24 months.
Sessions and the best time to start
Like any area, the intimate area needs 8 to 12 sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart. The laser only targets hair in the growth phase, which is why different hairs are treated in each session. The whole course takes about one to one and a half years. The thick hair in the intimate area responds well, while the final, finer hairs tend to need the upper end of that range.
Starting in winter is ideal because the area needs to stay out of the sun for two weeks before each session. If you start when we open in Düsseldorf in January 2027, you can fit in three to four sessions before summer. Your course won't be finished by then, but you'll have the first few rounds behind you. The studio is about 200 m from the Kirchplatz underground station on the Wehrhahnlinie. You can find out how to get here from your neighbourhood or the surrounding area in our guide Getting here from local districts and the surrounding area.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does laser hair removal for the intimate area cost in Düsseldorf?
At Laserazor Düsseldorf, the full intimate area costs 149 € for a single session and 86 € per session in a package of 10, for both women and men. The bikini line costs 99 € for a single session and 59 € in a package of 10, while the underarms + full intimate combo is 119 €. Your first session for a complete area is the 0 € trial session.
What is the difference between the bikini line and full intimate?
The bikini line only includes the hair visible at the edge of your underwear or swimwear, meaning the groin and the edge of the pubic mound. The full intimate area covers the entire pubic region, including the outer labia for women, and the penile shaft and testicles for men. The bikini line takes about 10 minutes, while the full intimate area takes around 15 minutes.
Does laser hair removal in the intimate area hurt?
You'll feel a quick, warm pinch with each pulse, which is more noticeable in the intimate area than on your legs or underarms. The cooling right before each pulse takes away a lot of the heat. As your hair reduces with each session, the treatments usually become more comfortable.
Do I need to shave beforehand?
Yes, 12 to 24 hours before your appointment. You shouldn't wax, epilate, or pluck for four weeks beforehand, because the laser needs the hair root. On the day of your session, don't apply any cream or deodorant to the area.
Can men get laser hair removal in the intimate area?
Yes. The full intimate area for men includes the pubic mound, groin, penile shaft, and testicles, and costs exactly the same as it does for women. Thick, dark hair responds well to the laser, and the thin skin on the testicles is treated with extra care.
Can I come to my appointment during my period?
For the full intimate area, it's best to schedule your appointment outside of your period, as many people find their skin is more sensitive during this time. With six to eight weeks between sessions, this is usually easy to arrange. Just let us know if your cycle shifts.
Can I get laser hair removal while pregnant?
No, we don't do laser treatments during pregnancy. Hormones change your skin and hair growth during this time. We can discuss restarting after your baby is born during a consultation, and any package you've started is valid for 24 months.
How many sessions do I need for the intimate area?
Usually 8 to 12 sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart, which takes about one to one and a half years. The treated hairs fall out after two to three weeks each time. If you experience hormonal changes, a top-up session might be needed later on.
When can I book an appointment in Düsseldorf?
The studio at Elisabethstraße 30 opens in January 2027, so online bookings for Düsseldorf aren't available just yet. You can register your interest on the studio page now, and we'll invite you to the first appointments with a 0 € trial session. Our booking team is happy to answer any questions on 030 310 13 860.
