What the law says: NiSV since 2021
The regulation on protection against the harmful effects of non-ionising radiation, NiSV for short, has been in effect since the end of 2020. It regulates who is allowed to use lasers and IPL on people. For hair removal, the person performing the treatment must prove recognised expertise, in studios just as in clinics. Treatments that intentionally damage the skin, such as ablative lasers for scar treatment or tattoo removal, are strictly reserved for doctors.

- Skin conditions in the treatment area: active acne, eczema, psoriasis, herpes, or rosacea should be seen by a doctor before laser treatment.
- Medication: Antibiotics, isotretinoin, St John's wort, and some blood pressure medications increase light sensitivity. A doctor should decide if and when you can have laser treatment.

- Lots of moles or unclear skin changes: A dermatologist will check them before your treatment. We simply avoid the moles themselves during the laser session.
