The essentials at a glance
- No Laserazor studio in the Ruhrgebiet: The nearest one opens in January 2027 at Elisabethstraße 30, Düsseldorf.
- To Düsseldorf Hbf: Duisburg 12 to 20 mins, Essen 25 to 35 mins, Bochum 35 to 50 mins, Dortmund 50 to 70 mins, on the RE1, RE2, RE6 or S1.
- From the main station, take tram 708 or 709 to Graf-Adolf-Platz, then it's about a five-minute walk.
- A series means 8 to 12 trips spaced six to eight weeks apart. Treating large or multiple areas makes the journey more worthwhile.
- You can compare local offers using these criteria: NiSV certification, wavelength, price per complete area, and trial treatment.
Laser hair removal in the Ruhrgebiet: the honest answer
Laserazor doesn't have a studio in the Ruhrgebiet. The nearest Laserazor studio is in Düsseldorf-Unterbilk and opens in January 2027.
The nearest Laserazor studio for the Ruhrgebiet is Laserazor Düsseldorf at Elisabethstraße 30, 40217 Düsseldorf. From Duisburg, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Oberhausen and Essen, you can reach Düsseldorf Hbf on regional trains in about 12 to 35 minutes.
What this means for you: If you're looking for a studio right on your doorstep, this guide gives you the criteria to check out offers in Essen, Bochum or Dortmund yourself, without us naming names. If dual-wavelength technology, fixed prices per complete area and a 0 € trial session are more important to you than a short commute, it's worth looking towards Düsseldorf. The travel times, planning and costs are all laid out here, with no sugar-coating.
Travel times from seven cities in the Ruhrgebiet
From Duisburg and Mülheim an der Ruhr, you'll be at Düsseldorf Hbf in about 25 minutes tops, while from Dortmund it takes 50 to 70 minutes. In between are Oberhausen, Essen, Gelsenkirchen and Bochum.
| From | Connection | Travel time to Düsseldorf Hbf | Total train time for the series |
|---|---|---|---|
| Duisburg Hbf | RE, S1 | 12 to 20 min | around 3 to 8 hours |
| Mülheim an der Ruhr Hbf | RE, S1 | 20 to 25 min | around 5 to 10 hours |
| Oberhausen Hbf | RE | 20 to 30 min | around 5 to 12 hours |
| Essen Hbf | RE1, RE2, RE6 | 25 to 35 min | around 7 to 14 hours |
| Gelsenkirchen Hbf | RE | 35 to 45 min | around 9 to 18 hours |
| Bochum Hbf | RE1, RE6 | 35 to 50 min | around 9 to 20 hours |
| Dortmund Hbf | RE1, RE6 | 50 to 70 mins | around 13 to 28 hours |
The right column shows what's often forgotten: a series consists of 8 to 12 sessions, and each one means a return trip. This is calculated based on eight appointments for a short journey and twelve appointments for a long one. From Duisburg, that's just a few hours over the whole series; from Dortmund, it's around 13 to 28 hours on the train.
The lines at a glance: you take the RE1 and RE6 from Essen, Bochum and Dortmund; the RE2 also runs from Essen. From Duisburg and Mülheim an der Ruhr, you can take the RE or the S1, and from Oberhausen and Gelsenkirchen, the RE. All times are rounded estimates. Check your connection before each appointment in the VRR timetable.
From Düsseldorf Hbf to Unterbilk
At Düsseldorf Hbf, hop on tram 708 or 709 to Graf-Adolf-Platz and walk for about five minutes to Elisabethstraße 30.
- On foot: via Graf-Adolf-Straße, around 1.5 kilometres, a good 20 minutes. A nice alternative in good weather if you've just missed the tram.
- Underground: Kirchplatz is around 200 metres away, Graf-Adolf-Platz around 400 metres, both on the Wehrhahn line U71, U72, U73 and U83.
- Bus: Herzogstraße stop is right outside the door.
- Car: Tiefgarage Friedrichstraße (around 150 metres) or Parkhaus Talstraße (around 300 metres), both paid parking. We don't give exact driving times from the Ruhrgebiet because they depend too much on traffic.
You'll find all the routes in detail, including from Düsseldorf's districts, in our guide Getting here from local districts and the surrounding area.
When the trip from the Ruhrgebiet is worth it
The trip to Düsseldorf is especially worth it if you're having large or multiple areas lasered, have dark or tanned skin, or are regularly in Düsseldorf anyway. To be honest, for one small area from Dortmund, it's a lot of effort.
Probably yes
- Short distances: You live in Duisburg, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Oberhausen or Essen and can be at the main station in 12 to 35 minutes.
- Large areas: Full legs cost 180 € per session in a 10-session package, full back 152 €. With a 45 or 40-minute treatment, the travel time is well balanced with the appointment.
- Dark or tanned skin: With Nd:YAG 1064 nm, Laserazor also treats dark and tanned skin. For dark skin types, Nd:YAG is considered the safest choice (Ibrahimi et al. 2011).
- Test first, then decide: The 0 € trial session includes a skin type check, test pulses and one complete area, with no obligation to buy or subscribe.
- Travelling to other cities: Packages are valid for 24 months in all seven Laserazor studios, including in Berlin, Hamburg, München and Augsburg.
Probably not
- Small area, long journey: The upper lip takes around 10 minutes and costs 59 € for a single session. From Dortmund, you're looking at around 100 to 140 minutes of travel time there and back.
- Good local options: If you find a studio in your city that meets the criteria below, the short journey is a real advantage.
- No set rhythm possible: If you can't travel to Düsseldorf every six to eight weeks over a year to a year and a half, your sessions will become inconsistent.
An example from Essen: Full legs take around 45 minutes. With a 25 to 35-minute train ride each way, the tram to Graf-Adolf-Platz and a short walk, you'll be out for a good half an afternoon for one appointment. With eight to twelve appointments, this is manageable if you plan for it from the start.
Planning your appointments: Saturdays, after work, your commute
Plan the series as a fixed run of 8 to 12 appointments spaced six to eight weeks apart, ideally always on the same day of the week and at the same time.
A steady rhythm in laser hair removal means: your next session is six to eight weeks after the last one. This gap follows your hair cycle, which also determines the number of sessions (Gan and Graber 2013), and the whole series takes about one to one and a half years.
Saturdays
If you work in the Ruhrgebiet during the week, Saturday is probably your first thought. The opening hours for Düsseldorf will be announced before the launch. If Saturdays are important to you, let our booking team know on 030 310 13 860 as soon as appointments open up, and block out the Saturdays for your entire series early on. Weekend train schedules can change, so check your journey planner beforehand.
Commuting via Düsseldorf Hbf
If you're already commuting from the Ruhrgebiet to Düsseldorf, just book your session on your way home. From the Hauptbahnhof, take tram 708 or 709 to Graf-Adolf-Platz, head back the same way after your treatment, and catch your RE or S1 train at the Hauptbahnhof. Small zones fit perfectly into this window: underarms take about 10 minutes, and the bikini zone also takes around 10 minutes.
After your session
No sports, no sauna, and no sun on the treated zone on the day of your appointment. So don't book your session right before a workout. For the two weeks after, you'll need SPF 50 on the area, even if you're just standing in the sun on the train platform.

A handy trick: book your next appointment right at the end of each session. That way, the gap won't slip past eight weeks, and you'll know weeks in advance if your travel connections work out. Prep starts four weeks beforehand: no waxing, no epilating, no plucking. Two weeks before: no sun and no fake tan. Shave 12 to 24 hours before your session.
Comparing local offers: criteria instead of names
You can spot a good laser hair removal offer in Essen just as you would in Düsseldorf: by their NiSV certification, a specified wavelength, a skin type check with test pulses, a clear price per complete zone, and an honest number of sessions.
| Criterion | Your question | A good answer |
|---|---|---|
| Qualifications | Does my practitioner have the required NiSV qualification? | Yes, with proof available on request. Mandatory since 31.12.2020. |
| Technology | Which device, which wavelength? | A specific number: Alexandrit 755 nm, diode 800 to 810 nm or Nd:YAG 1064 nm. IPL is not a laser. |
| Skin type | How is my skin type determined? | With a skin type check and test pulses before your first session. |
| Price | Does the price apply to the entire area? | Yes, with single and package prices, plus a set duration for the package. |
| Sessions | How many sessions do I need? | 8 to 12, spaced six to eight weeks apart. |
| Practice | How do you charge? | Dermatology practices charge according to the GOÄ, usually around 90 to 150 € per session for underarms, often without package discounts. |
As a general rule for the market: chains and beauty salons often use IPL or diode and advertise prices for tiny areas. Calculate these prices for the full zone before you compare. Dermatology practices charge according to the Gebührenordnung für Ärzte, and studios using Alexandrit and Nd:YAG are less common. You can find out exactly what the NiSV requires and what to check on-site in our guide NiSV in NRW: who is allowed to laser. The question of practice vs. studio is answered in the guide Dermatologist or laser studio, and a checklist with all criteria is available in Best laser hair removal in Düsseldorf: Checklist.
Prices and what a course costs
The same prices apply in Düsseldorf as in all Laserazor studios: per full zone, single sessions with no commitment, and packages of 3, 5, or 10 sessions that reduce the price per session by 20 to 45 percent.
| Zone | Duration | 1 session | Pack of 3, per session | Pack of 5, per session | Pack of 10, per session |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Underarms | 10 min | 79 € | 65 € | 51 € | 48 € |
| Bikini Area | 10 min | 99 € | 81 € | 63 € | 59 € |
| Full chest | 20 min | 139 € | 113 € | 87 € | 81 € |
| Full Back | 40 min | 269 € | 217 € | 165 € | 152 € |
| Full Legs | 45 min | 319 € | 257 € | 195 € | 180 € |
| Underarms + intimate area + legs | 60 min | 299 € | 279 € | 259 € | 239 € |
Excerpt from the price list featuring all 31 zones. Prices are per complete zone and are the same in all studios, including in Düsseldorf.
A course of ten sessions at the 10-pack price costs 480 € for underarms, 810 € for full chest, 1.520 € for full back, and 1.800 € for full legs. Packages are valid for 24 months. For a total price of 300 € or more, you can pay in 12 instalments at 0%, or pay monthly with the VIP flat rate from 109 € a month. Travel costs apply if you're coming from the Ruhrgebiet, so factor those into your comparison. All zones are listed in the price list, and the calculation for Düsseldorf is in the guide Laser hair removal Düsseldorf: Prices.

How long is the journey from Essen to Düsseldorf?
It takes around 25 to 35 minutes on the RE1, RE2 or RE6 from Essen Hbf to Düsseldorf Hbf. From there, catch the 708 or 709 tram to Graf-Adolf-Platz and it's about a five-minute walk to the studio.
How do I get to Düsseldorf from Dortmund or Bochum?
From Dortmund, it takes around 50 to 70 minutes to Düsseldorf Hbf on the RE1 or RE6, and from Bochum it's about 35 to 50 minutes on the RE1 or RE6. Over a full course of 8 to 12 appointments, that adds up to around 13 to 28 hours of pure train travel from Dortmund.
How long does it take from Duisburg, Mülheim, Oberhausen or Gelsenkirchen?
Estimated travel times to Düsseldorf Hbf: Duisburg takes 12 to 20 minutes on the RE or S1, Mülheim an der Ruhr takes 20 to 25 minutes on the RE or S1, Oberhausen takes 20 to 30 minutes on the RE, and Gelsenkirchen takes 35 to 45 minutes on the RE.
Where do I park in Düsseldorf if I'm driving?
The Friedrichstraße underground car park is around 150 metres from the studio, and the Talstraße car park is about 300 metres away. Both are paid parking. We don't provide exact driving times from the Ruhrgebiet as they depend heavily on traffic.
Is the journey from the Ruhrgebiet worth it for a small area?
That depends on the journey. The upper lip takes around 10 minutes and costs 59 € individually or 37 € per session in a 10-session package. From Duisburg, at 12 to 20 minutes each way, it's very doable; from Dortmund, with a 100 to 140-minute round trip, probably not. Treating multiple areas in one appointment makes the journey more worthwhile.
Can I come to Düsseldorf on Saturdays?
The opening hours for Düsseldorf will be announced before the opening in January 2027. If you prefer Saturdays, let the booking team know on 030 310 13 860 as soon as appointments are available, and plan your course of treatments early with intervals of six to eight weeks.
How much does laser hair removal in Düsseldorf cost for clients from the Ruhrgebiet?
The same as in all Laserazor studios: underarms 48 €, full chest 81 €, full back 152 € and full legs 180 € per session in a 10-session package. Packages of 3, 5 or 10 sessions save you money on each session, the 10-session package saves 20 to 45 percent, and they are valid for 24 months. Travel costs are extra.
How do I recognise a good studio in the Ruhrgebiet?
Look out for five things: The person treating you has the NiSV qualification and shows you their certificate. The studio tells you the device and wavelength. Before your first session, there is a skin type check and test pulses. The price covers the entire treatment area, with a set package validity. And they are honest about needing 8 to 12 sessions.

¹ 'Permanent' means: after a complete series, no hair that the laser has reached will grow back in the treated zone. No laser can reach grey, white and very light hairs. Hormonal changes can trigger new growth, in which case a top-up session is usually enough.
