Laser hair removal for men — back, chest, beard, intimate area

Men most commonly get laser hair removal on their back, chest, stomach, intimate area and beard line. Usually 8–12 sessions with a dual laser (Alexandrit 755 nm + Nd:YAG 1064 nm) and external Cryo cooling — suitable for all skin types (I–VI); we check your individual suitability and any potential contraindications beforehand.

Why more and more men are switching to laser hair removal

Over 35 % of all laser hair removal treatments are booked by men today. The reason: daily shaving over 30 years costs several thousand euros in blades, shaving foam, and aftershave — and leaves many men with razor burn, ingrown hairs, and constant skin irritation. Low-pain laser hair removal can effectively prevent razor burn and ingrown hairs.

Compared to waxing (every 4–8 weeks, often painful), the laser reduces hair growth permanently by 80–90 %1 after 8–12 sessions. A complete treatment usually pays for itself within 2–3 years.

The most requested treatment zones for men

Back & shoulders

Thick back hair is almost impossible to treat yourself using traditional methods. Laser treatment for the entire back takes 30–45 minutes per session. Men with light skin and dark hair benefit especially from the Alexandrit laser (755 nm): it targets the melanin in the hair root highly efficiently. For darker skin types or deep-rooted hair, the Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm): penetrating deeper and suitable up to Fitzpatrick VI — is used; we'll check your individual suitability beforehand.

You can find more on choosing the right technology in our guide Alexandrit vs. diode laser and in the detailed comparison Lasers by skin type.

Chest & stomach

Smooth skin on the chest and stomach visibly defines your muscles — this treatment is especially popular with athletes and bodybuilders. Less friction during training, better hygiene, easier application of sports creams. The treatment takes 20–30 minutes per session altogether, and 8–12 sessions are usually enough. Details in our guide Laser for athletes.

Intimate & peri-anal area

Treating the intimate area and buttocks crease is becoming increasingly popular among men — better hygiene, less sweat, and a more comfortable body feel. At Laserazor, the treatment is performed discreetly by NiSV-certified professionals, and the external Cryo cooling noticeably minimises pain. Safety & procedure in detail: Laser intimate area — safely.

Beard line, neck & cheeks

Precise contours on the beard and neck ensure a clean, defined look. Laserazor permanently removes unwanted hair at the edges — the beard itself remains untouched. A session takes just 10–15 minutes, and usually 8–12 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart are needed.

Alexandrit or Nd:YAG — which laser is better for men?

Laserazor is one of the few studios in Germany to use a true dual-laser system (Lutronic Clarity II & DEKA Again Pro). Depending on your skin type and the treatment area, your practitioner will select the perfect laser for you:

LaserWavelengthOptimal skin typeRecommended for
Alexandrite755 nmFitzpatrick I–IIIBack, chest, legs on fair-skinned men with dark hair
Nd:YAG1064 nmFitzpatrick IV–VIdark skin types, intimate area, beard line, tanned skin

The Fitzpatrick scale: Classification of the 6 skin types based on melanin reaction to UV light — the foundation of any serious laser therapy. Both technologies are cooled to approx. 5 °C by an external Cryo cooling system, which significantly reduces pain.

How many sessions do men need?

Due to testosterone, male hair is denser, thicker and rooted deeper than female hair. On average, 8–12 sessions are needed; for very heavy hair growth or hormonal regrowth, sometimes even 10. Intervals: 4–8 weeks (beard/chest) to 4–8 weeks (back, legs). Find out more about the number of sessions on our How many sessions? page.

For heavy hormonal hair growth (e.g. elevated testosterone levels), our guide on hirsutism & hypertrichosis can help.

Preparation & aftercare — what men should keep in mind

  • 24 hours before treatment: thoroughly shave the area to be treated. Hair must be short, but the root still there.
  • 4 weeks before treatment: no waxing, epilating or plucking.
  • 2 weeks before and after treatment: no sunbeds, no intense sun, no fake tan.
  • 48 hours after treatment: no saunas, no hot showers, no intense sports.
  • Sun protection: at least SPF 50 on treated areas for the first 2 weeks.

You can find aftercare details in our aftercare guide and in the preparation checklist.

How much does laser hair removal cost for men?

Prices vary depending on the area. Smaller areas (beard line, back of the neck) are cheaper, while larger areas (back, chest) are in the mid-range. You can find the full price list on our pricing page.

For multiple zones, the VIP Laser-Flatrate from 99 €/month is almost always worth it: unlimited sessions, unlimited zones, one fixed monthly price. Mathematically up to 389 €/month in value.

Is laser hair removal painful for men?
Most men find the treatment very tolerable. The external Cryo cooling at Laserazor significantly reduces any pain. The sensation is often described as a slight tingling or a quick pinch. More sensitive areas like the intimate zone can be slightly more uncomfortable, but are still very manageable.
Does laser also work on very dense hair growth?
Yes, very well actually. Men with heavy hair growth might need 1–2 extra sessions, but achieve equally permanent results. The dual-laser system at Laserazor is specially optimised for thick, male hair.
How long does a back or chest treatment take?
Full back: 30–45 minutes. Chest + stomach together: 20–30 minutes. Smaller areas like beard line or neck: 10–15 minutes per session.
Can I really get all body areas lasered as a man?
Almost all body areas can be treated: back, shoulders, chest, stomach, intimate area, gluteal fold, beard line, back of the neck, legs, arms, underarms. Laser treatment is only impossible directly around the eyes (within the orbital bone). We generally don't treat tattooed skin, moles, pigmentation spots and scars without written medical clearance — we simply work around them.
Which skin types can Laserazor treat?
All six Fitzpatrick skin types — from very light (I) to very dark (VI). Thanks to the dual laser system, our practitioners choose between Alexandrit (I–III) and Nd:YAG (IV–VI). During your free trial session, we'll determine your exact skin type.
How soon will I see the first results?
Initial results show just 2–3 weeks after the first session: the treated hair falls out and regrowth slows down. After 2–3 sessions, the reduction is clearly visible (approx. 50–70 %). For permanently smooth skin, 8–12 sessions are needed.
Is laser hair removal safe in the intimate area for men?
Yes. At Laserazor, only NiSV-certified practitioners work with state-of-the-art, CE-approved technology. The external Cryo cooling provides extra comfort. The intimate area is one of our most frequently requested zones. As with any laser application, temporary redness or swelling may occur; we clarify any possible contraindications beforehand.
Can I have laser hair removal during testosterone therapy?
Generally yes. However, increased testosterone can activate new hair follicles, which is why ongoing hormone therapy often requires more sessions or regular top-ups. Talk to us openly about it during your trial session — we'll plan your treatment individually.
